CEO Update on COVID-19

Thursday, March 12th, 2020

As cases of COVID-19 continue to increase, we want to assure you that First Imperial Credit Union is fully committed to the health and safety of our members and employees. The credit union has implemented enhanced cleaning and other procedures at our branches to minimize the risk of person-to-person transmission of the virus and related illnesses. At this time, no FICU employees have contracted the virus.

We want to affirm that ongoing access to your funds as well as the continued safety of your financial assets are our top priority. All FICU branches remain open with normal operating hours. If you need credit union services but are concerned about coming into a branch, please consider using FICU online banking or the FICU mobile app. Through our eServices you have the ability to pay bills, deposit checks, check balances, transfer funds and more. For cash withdrawals, our network of 30,000+ Co-Op ATMs are readily available. To find an ATM near you, visit ficu.com or the FICU Mobile App. Alternatively, our Contact Center may be reached at 760-352-1540, option 0 to assist you with any of your account needs.

If you would like additional information about COVID-19, we suggest reading credible sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at cdc.gov and Imperial County Public Health Department at icphd.org.

As this health safety issue is on the forefront, we also want to reiterate the importance of financial wellness and planning. We want to stress both the importance of preparedness and our commitment to our members by offering to assist and provide tips to help you plan through challenging situations. Evaluate your current financial health:

  • Savings: Do you have funds saved for unexpected situations?
  • Loans: Consider debt consolidation or auto refinance to lower monthly payments which gives you more cash on hand each month and/or extra funds to deposit to your savings account.
  • Update Contact Information: To expedite phone requests, it is important to have current contact information updated with FICU such as phone number, address and/or email.
  • Identity Documents: It is important to have electronic or paper copies of important documents such as Driver's License, Insurance Cards, Social Security Cards, and Passports stored in a safe place for you to readily access.

We appreciate your patience as we navigate through this situation together and we will be posting important updates via email, ficu.com and our social media pages.
