Get penciled in for the FICU Backpack and School Supplies Drive

Tuesday, July 17th, 2018

As Imperial Valley students and families near the beginning of the school year, the need for backpacks and school supplies is in abundance, however, often times it is an expense that many cannot afford. For other students, through no fault of their own, having a housing instability raises the question of who will be able to provide for them.

Next month, First Imperial Credit Union is partnering with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Imperial Valley in an effort to provide backpacks and school supplies for students in need through FICU’s “Casual for a Cause” employee fundraiser and joint member participation.  The Casual for a Cause fundraiser follows FICU’s core values of being actively involved in supporting the growth and quality of life in our community as well as supporting local organizations by making donations of time, talent and money.

“This is a great opportunity to get our team and members involved to directly contribute to students that need our aid,” said Fidel Gonzalez, President/CEO of First Imperial Credit Union.  “As a local financial institution we understand the financial burdens that our community experiences and we are pleased in assisting students with getting them prepared for the new school year.”

The drive begins August 1 and ends August 17.  Anyone who wishes to donate supplies may drop them off at any First Imperial Credit Union branch during normal business hours.
